INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - High School students have no problem chatting on the phone, so one district is putting their skills to good use.

Sunday was the third year for Tri-West's Phonathon.

Students called members of their community to ask for donations that go toward a scholarship program. The more money raised, the more students get help with their upcoming college tuition.

Last year, 18 students were awarded $1,000 scholarships.

Based on how much money is raised is how many people we can give scholarships to,” said a student at the phonathon. “The more that we raise, the more we can give, and the more we can give, the more people are in college – which is good.”

K&J Communications donated 20 call stations for students to all work in one room.

Once the money is totaled and student essays are judged, scholarships will be announced in May.
