INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A police chase early Thursday ended in a crash that sent three people to the hospital.
A headlight out on a vehicle prompted a Lawrence Police Department officer to attempt to pull a motorist over around 1 a.m. near East 45th Street and North Shadeland Avenue.
However, the driver had other plans and took off, leading police on a chase that ended in a crash with another vehicle at East 30th Street and North Ritter Avenue.
The driver was injured, as were two people in the second vehicle.
All three were taken to the hospital, but police expected them all to be OK.
Police said they found drugs and a handgun in the car they were pursuing.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, 33-year-old Christopher Hutchinson, Indianapolis, was arrested and preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement by fleeing and fighting with officers at the crash scene.
Hutchinson was also preliminarily charged with possession of cocaine, a firearms violation and driving while suspended.
