INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A person spotted what they thought was their stolen Dodge Ram at 42nd Street and Emerson Avenue Thursday evening and called police.
An officer spotted the truck at 34th Street and Emerson Avenue and turned on his police lights when the truck fled.
The officer followed the truck westbound on Emerson when the driver of the truck cut back north on Bancroft Road.
The driver then headed west on 35th Street and turned south on Dequincy Street.
The 59-year-old passenger of a the truck jumped out of the vehicle at 34th and Dequincy streets and fell on his face.
“All I saw was the guy who jumped out of the truck. He was laying in the streets down there and his head, he had a cut on his head pretty bad and a cut on his back and was just laying in a lot of blood,” said a neighbor who witnessed the crash.
The driver continued down the street in the truck and crashed into an Impala that was eastbound on 34th Street.
The impact caused the truck to flip.
The driver of the car that was struck was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a possible broken arm.
The passenger who was in the car is pregnant was taken and was also taken to Methodist complaining of stomach and back pain.
The driver of the stolen truck was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital to be checked out before he was arrested.
The passenger who jumped out was checked out at Wishard as well and was arrested.
