INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police arrested a man who they say is responsible for Saturday's homicide that occurred north of downtown.
The shooting occurred in the 3200 block of Schofield Avenue and when police arrived they found 24-year-old Warren Dickerson suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso, police reports stated.
Dickerson was transported to Wishard Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Police say that one of the several 911 calls about the shots fired were made by the person of interest and when officers arrived they detained, without incident, that person of interest and recovered at least one weapon.
After questioning, police arrested and preliminarily charged Christian Austin, 24, of Indianapolis with murder, according to police.
The suspect is currently being held in the Arrestee Processing Center awaiting the filing of formal charges by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
