INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police in Lawrence want to know who is behind a string of car break-ins.

The latest thefts occurred in the parking lot of the L.A. Fitness on Pendleton Pike Tuesday.  Authorities say three cars were burglarized.

Among the items stolen were laptops, cameras and other electronics.

Police say large public parking lots are prime targets for thieves and they want to remind the public to hide  valuables before leaving your car.

“Make sure you keep everything out of your vehicle that’s in plane view. GPS systems are the most common item that are easily taken from your car,” Lawrence Police Captain Curtis Bigsby says.

24-Hour News 8 spoke with managers at L.A. Fitness off camera who say they are working with police to increase patrols as well as handing out flyers that warn customers of the recent break-ins.
