INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The man suspected of smashing his vehicle into an IMPD squad car  sending an officer to the hospital was drunk at the time of the crash, police said Tuesday afternoon.

Boubacar Moussa is in the Wishard Hospital holding facility following the wreck Tuesday morning. He faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to stop after an accident with injury.

Police say Officer Ryan Archer is still recovering in the hospital and will remain there until Wednesday at the earliest.

The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. near 46th Street and Emerson Avenue. Police say the officer was inside his car at that intersection when another driver ran into the squad car and then took off.

Officers found the suspect's car just about a mile away near Emerson Avenue and Millersville Road. Minutes later, one of the IMPD canines found the suspect.
