INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis mother is facing child neglect charges after she left a 2-year-old child in the car while she went shopping.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were dispatched to meet the 42-year-old woman after she forgot where she parked her car. The woman told officers she left a child sleeping in the car while she went to Nordstrom at the Circle Center Mall.
Officers split up to interrogate the mother and the others to help find her car.
Police found the mother’s car several blocks away and called paramedics to examine the child. The medics determined the child was showing symptoms of hypothermia and took him to the hospital for treatment.
Officers arrested the woman for neglect of a dependent and called CPS to take custody of the child.
