INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 10-year-old.

Tatyana Staten, 10,  was last seen Friday at 1:45 p.m. in the 4300 block of Elizabeth Street. Her mother called police and said Tatyana had left home and could not be located, according to a release.

Police say she is 4 foot 5 inches tall, has brown braids, and was last seen wearing a black jacket with pink lining. She was also wearing black shoes.

Tatyana is believed to have run away from her home after being suspended from school earlier on Friday.

Police are concerned about Tatyana's well-being due to the cold temperatures.

The public is encouraged to check vehicles, outbuilding, vacant houses, businesses and other structures where she may have gone to keep warm, according to a release.

Dispatchers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say they were conducting an urban search Saturday night on East 46th Street and Shadeland Avenue to continue searching for Staten. This search is for search authorities only at this time. However, the public is encouraged to check their own cars.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
