Police seek fatal hit-and-run driver

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IMPD detectives are using scattered pieces of a crash to solve the mystery of a deadly hit and run. On Sunday, Kathleen J. Clark, 63, was struck by a truck as she walked just off the road on the 2900 block of South Meridian.

Surveillance video captured a glimpse of Clark walking in front of the bar the Thirsty Turtle. She walks out of frame and a light colored F-150 truck with an extended cab zips through. Seconds later, the crash happens.

The video captures two people standing outside the bar who were startled by the sound. However, the two did not see the  accident.

“They heard something. They were talking to each other and not paying attention to anyone walking,” said Louise Liford Owner of Thirsty Turtle.

Fifteen hours later, Clark’s body is discovered in the same spot where the crash was heard. On the scene, police collected the passenger mirror and part of a head lamp for evidence.

“There is no doubt that a person knows they hit a human being,” said Louise Liford Owner of Thirsty Turtle.

Little is known about Clark at this time. She was described as a sweet woman who walked a lot and depended on public transportation.
