INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police in Indianapolis investigated the report of a possible child abduction Sunday afternoon. The child has been located and the father is facing preliminary charges of battery.

Officers were called to the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library at 12:10 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived they learned from 18-year-old Rodricia Snow that her 5-month-old child had been taken by her non-custodial father, 19-year-old Robert Norris, after an argument.

According to a police report, Snow's friend was holding the infant when Norris became upset and began to pull on the child's arm in an attempt to take her from the woman.

Norris reportedly pulled and twisted the child's arm with a great amount of force.

Officers learned from witnesses that after Norris took the child, he made statements that alluded to possible endangerment of the child.

Norris was last seen heading north on Meridian Street with the child in his arms.

The child and father were located shortly before 2:30 p.m within walking distance of the library.

Norris is facing preliminary charges of battery on his 5-month-old daughter.
