INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A woman who has spent the last week on top of a building in downtown Indianapolis is back on the ground.
Cassie Stockamp is the president of the Athenaeum Foundation.
For the last week, Stockamp has been on top of the Athenaeum building, raising money for improvements on the building which is over 100 years old.
“It represents a cultural diversity that is a big part of the heritage of the city, as well as it continues to be used as a cultural gathering place,” Stockamp said. “She’s a good old - we call her Betty White.”
Stockamp came down just before noon on Saturday. Following her descent, the Fourth Annual German Fest began.
Activities throughout the day included a yodeling contest, dachshund faces, a 5K run/walk and a Bavarian stone lifting contest.
Senator Richard Lugar was named 2012 Hoosier German-American of the Year by the Indiana German Heritage Society for his contributions to the German-American community.
German Fest is intended to help familiarize Indianapolis residents with German heritage and with the historic Athenaeum building. All proceeds from German Fest will help support the mission of the Athenaeum Foundation, according to a release.
