INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis mayor's office confirms that Frank Straub's last day as Director of Public Safety will be this Friday.
The mayor had asked him to stay on past his original resignation day of Aug. 1. A spokesman for the mayor says that Straub felt like now is the right time to leave. He says he's wrapped up a few of the projects the mayor had asked him to complete.
Straub is a candidate for a similar job in Spokane, Wash. The mayor's office didn't know if he had a job lined up leading to his departure this week.
The process to replace Straub continues. The committee has met with several local candidates and is arranging interviews with out of town candidates.
Straub announced his resignation in April .
