INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Seven local American Red Cross disaster volunteers are gearing up to leave for Florida in preparation for Tropical Storm Isaac’s arrival.
Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to hit Florida within the next few days. It is the ninth named storm, but the first expected to hit the U. S. this season.
Greater Indianapolis trained volunteers include Sally Wilsey, Heather Thomas, Carol Pitzer, Tom Morgan, Vivian Feliciano, James Tharp, and Frank Kominowski. All have been assigned to support, feed, and shelter potential victims.
Friday morning, a few of the volunteers left from Indianapolis along with the Greater Emergency Response Vehicle. The Indianapolis ERV is one of 28 additional emergency response vehicles heading to Florida before the storm moves in.
