INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The residents of a home on the east side of Indianapolis had to be taken to an area hospital after a fire.
Indianapolis Fire Department was called to a home in the 3800 block of East Michigan Street at about 10 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke showing. The residents, three adults and two children, ages 6 and 9, were all taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control in 20 minutes, but damage was estimated at $65,000.
The cause of the accidental fire was electrical in nature, IFD said.
