INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - To fight back against child abuse, like the case of Carmen Ellis, those closest to this situation are organizing a memorial motorcycle ride.
Carmen's grandmother, Tina Ellis, and her sister in law Marilyn Eckel, are teaming up to prevent child abuse in Indiana for the Carmen Ellis Memorial Ride.
The event will be held in October of this year and for years to come.
Organizers hope to have the event closer to the middle of May - around the same time as Carmen’s birthday.
Organizers like Tina Ellis say this will be another tool to fight child abuse.
"Just get the word out that no one deserves to be beaten, especially a child," Ellis said.
The ride is Oct. 13 and registration is at 4146 East 96th Street at the Harley Davidson of Indianapolis. The ride starts at 10:30 a.m. and wraps up at Hog House Bar and Grill in Ingalls.
Cost is $25 per bike, $5 for each additional passenger.
Monetary donations can be made to the Carmen Ellis Memorial Fund through cash or checks. Each registered rider will receive a bracelet commemorating the ride and a 15 percent discount at Harley Davidson of Indianapolis the day of the ride.
