NIAGARA FALLS, Ny. (WISH) - The Naptown Roller Girls will make their second trip to the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association World Championships after they placed third in a tournament Sunday.
The Naptown Tornado Sirens took third place in the North-Central Regional Tournament Sunday in Niagara Falls, NY.
The team will head out to Atlanta, GA on Nov. 2 through 4 for the WFTDA World Championships.
"It feels phenomenal - we worked really hard and it feels great that it paid off," says Piper Sonic, who scored a career-high 77 points in the bout. "We did a lot of team building and strategic planning together for this win."
The Sirens come away from the North-Central tournament with a 2-1 overall record, defeating the Detroit Derby Girls Friday 187-156. They then lost to the Minnesota Roller Girls Saturday 86-283, according to a release.
The all-star team made their first appearance at World Championships last fall in suburban Denver.
The Naptown Roller Girls will begin their seventh home season at the Marsh Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Dec. 29.
Tickets go on sale to the public around Oct. 1.
