GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - A scholarship fund has been started in the name of a teacher killed in the Nov. 10 Richmond Hill explosion, and it had Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeting on Thanksgiving morning.
Jennifer Longworth, a Southwest Elementary second grade teacher, died along with her husband, Dion, in the explosion.
Jennifer was known as a big Colts fan at her school, and the PTO worked to create an award for students graduating from Greenwood High School. For the first 10 years, the recipients must be students who were in Jennifer’s class. After that, recipients will be chosen based on merit.
The scholarship is for $1,000. Irsay said he kicked off the donations, though he didn’t say how much his donation was.
