WEST NEWTON, Ind. (WISH) - A scare at an elementary school over a mountain lion in the area is only a rumor, school officials told 24-Hour News 8.

The rumor made its way to some parents at West Newton Elementary School. Some had heard there were restrictions related to students coming and going from the building.

Officials said they checked with the Department of Natural Resources and learned the rumor was unfounded. The school is operating as usual.
