INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man claiming to be a police officer or school security officer has tried to make suspicious purchases, according to a police report.

Officials at Wayne Township schools reached out to IMPD after the man apparently misrepresented himself as a security officer at their schools.

"We don't have any idea at this time why this person would have said he or she is an employee of Wayne Township  schools," said Mary Lang, with the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township.

The man has also shown interest in buying police and military equipment, and over the last two months has tried to buy school computer programs, fire protection association memberships and medical products, according to a police report.

He has used various names, addresses and e-mails, investigators said.
