INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The State Fair Commission approved a new Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) on Thursday.
Officials say the 425 page plan covers all aspects of safety management on the fairgrounds.
The new plan stems from the Aug. 13 stage rigging collapse that killed seven people and injured dozens more.
The Fair Commission's newly hired COO, David Shaw, walked Commission members through the plan which details actions that must be taken in the event of an emergency. The plan also outlines a clear chain of command when it comes to decision making in emergency situations.
In order to ensure the plan is understood and can be properly implemented, all Sate Fair employees are required to take online emergency management courses. State Fair Commission Chairman Andre Lacy says it is mandatory for all employees to take and pass the course.
