Storms moving across the state

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - 10:30 p.m. UPDATE: The NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Dearborn, Fayette, Franklin, Ripley and Union counties until 11 p.m. Wednesday. Check current watches and warnings here .

10 p.m. UPDATE: Parts of Illinois, Iowa and Missouri are under a severe thunderstorm watch, but Indiana was not included in the watch. In central Indiana, Forecast 8 meteorologist Angela Buchman expects storms to end around midnight.

8:30 p.m. UPDATE: Lightening strikes are believed to have caused house fires in Carmel and on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

7:30 p.m. UPDATE: With Indiana under a slight risk for severe weather Wednesday evening, scattered showers and storms are moving across central Indiana.

Forecast 8 meteorologist Angela Buchman said a line of storms across the state at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Lightning and heavy rain are likely, and small hail and gusty winds are also possible.

The rain and storms are expected to last until late into the night.

Indiana is under a slight risk for severe weather Wednesday evening.

Forecast 8 is expecting scattered rain Wednesday afternoon. More storms will develop late in the afternoon and early evening. Central Indiana is under a slight risk for severe weather.

The storms in the evening could turn severe. The time frame is between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday.

These storms will have the potential for large hail, damaging winds and even tornadoes.

The Forecast 8 team will keep monitoring the situation. Watch for updates on the Forecast 8 Weather Blog and on WISH-TV at noon, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
