INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Students at one charter school are giving back by helping the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department's K-9 unit.
Officers and K-9, Scout, visited "Options Charter School" Wednesday to accept money that was raised by a students' hard work.
Senior Brittany Craig organized a fund drive and raised $300 to help police dogs like Scout.
The service project is a requirement from all seniors at the school.
“I love to get to see them go out and do positive things in the community and they won't forget that feeling,” said Options Charter School Principal Michelle Waldon. “They won't forget how it feels to give back to somebody else and they'll keep doing it. The funds from the community really help us out and our agency.”
The department will put the money toward training, medical expenses, and equipment for the K-9 unit.
