Super Bowl Host Committee closing up

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - There may be a moving van or two downtown near Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday morning.

But this has nothing to do with the Colts.

The Super Bowl Host Committee is moving out of its headquarters building. The remaining staff has been packing and stacking boxes this week.

Some of their boxes will go to the Indiana Sports Corp. Dianna Boyce, director of communications for the Host Committee, said the archives will be helpful to local historians someday.

"It's important because it tells the story of what we did over the last four years, and it tells it in a voice other than ours," she said.

She also saved copies of tweets praising Indianapolis for its management of the Super Bowl. One, from a CBS reporter, declared the NFL “should put Indy in permanent rotation” for future championships.

The committee's headquarters opened in October 2008. Only a few people worked there then. By game time, the staff and its crew of interns numbered nearly 50 people. Many of them are gone now. Others will be soon, since the headquarters is likely to be closed at the end of the week.
