Super Bowl security tight but not cumbersome

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Thousands of fans went through long lines and security to get in to Lucas Oil Stadium. Security was tight, but how difficult was it for fans getting in to see the game?

Super Bowl fans we talked to said getting through security was actually not bad considering all of the people trying to get in to the stadium.

All Super Bowl ticket holders, members of the media and those performing had to go through security screening. The security entrance was set up just south of the Lucas Oil Stadium off of Illinois Street. The screening process included going through a line maze and in front of several security guards that had metal detector wands and a pat down.

Once ticket holders got a pat down, they walked through a metal detector. Their tickets were checked after going thought the metal detectors.

24-Hour News 8 talked to several people who made it through security and asked them what the screening process was like before going in to the Stadium.

"We breezed through, but it wasn’t as bad as the airport where thousands were moving through, but we got through security pretty quick," said Courtney Mell of New York.

"Yeah, pat down, waist check and they screened my boots, that was about it," said Allison Arauco of Indianapolis.

IMPD, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI all worked together to help move ticket holders to Lucas Oil smoothly. Officers were all around the Stadium looking for anything suspicious and making sure people were safe getting in.

When fans depart the Stadium, they will all have to exit out of the South entrance and walk towards McCarty Street. If some of them are planning to come back here to Super Bowl Village, they will have to walk several blocks north on Illinois to get here.
