INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - SWAT officers were called out to a home on the south side of Indianapolis after a man barricaded himself inside after shots were fired.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the man had gotten into a fight with a woman and had fired a gun. Officers were called to the home in the 1100 block of Sumner Road at about 12:40 a.m. Monday.

SWAT officers used a loudspeaker to try to convince the man to come out, but he refused. They then used bean bag rounds fired from guns through an upstairs window to allow a robot to enter the home and collect information before officers themselves tried to enter.

The officers eventually went inside, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation was ongoing, and the suspect’s identity was not available Monday morning.
