INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Today, there are more than 342 thousand children living in poverty, according to the Children's Defense Fund.

As of January of this year, more than 154 thousand children are living in extreme poverty.

However, events like "Back to School Day" help Indiana students receive the tools they need to receive an education.

Saturday, school children will be able to receive health screenings, immunizations, and school supplies at the Marion County Public Health Department, located at 3838 North Rural Street.

WISH-TV is a proud sponsor of this event. Stay tuned to WISH-TV for more on this story.
