Travelers try to beat blizzard

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - T'was the night before the storm,
And all the salt trucks were loaded,
All the travelers were stirring, trying to catch their flights.

Sarah  Lewis and her family travel every year on Christmas.

"We normally travel on Christmas day because it's the cheapest way to fly. So, we do Christmas in the morning and head out somewhere to see our family," Lewis said.

The Lewis family boarded a flight at the Indianapolis International Airport heading to Washington Tuesday afternoon.

But Jerry Bunch Sr. and his family ran into trouble. Bunch said his son, Jerry Bunch Jr., was supposed to depart at 2 p.m Wednesday but wanted to leave early to beat the expected blizzard.

Monday night,  Jerry Bunch Jr. booked a flight for Christmas Day.  Something more than long lines greeted him when he arrived at the airport.

"They overbooked the flight and now he is trying to find another way out, possibly renting a car," Jerry Bunch Sr. said.

In the end, his son did rent a car. He didn't want to take any chances.

"It was an awesome Christmas. Glad he was able to make it home," Bunch Sr. said.

But now, Jerry Bunch Sr. and his wife face another challenge: Coping with the blizzard.
