INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana State Police troopers were busy handling dozens of slide offs and crashes during Tuesday’s storm, including three involving State Police themselves.

The trooper vehicles were hit within minutes of each other early Wednesday morning, while Indianapolis area State Police were responding to 46 slide offs, 40 property damage and 20 personal injury crashes.

Two of the police cars were hit by vehicles on I-74 and I-465. A third police car was sideswiped by a semi on I-65. The trooper inside suffered minor injuries.

“It was a wet snow,” Sergeant Rich Myers with Indiana State Police said. “It was a slick snow, but it just falls back to what we try to reiterate to people. Slow down, keep control of your car, allow extra driving distance and to make sure you're not in a situation you're not going to be able to get out of.”

No one else was hurt in any of the accidents involving the State Police vehicles.
