Truck leaves path of damage before crashing into house

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A truck crashed into a house in a Fountain Square neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

IMPD and emergency crews responded to a report of a vehicle into a house at Pleasant Avenue and South State Street around 2:45 a.m.

However when they arrived,  what they found was a path of damage that covered an entire block.

The investigation so far indicates the vehicle left the roadway, struck a traffic sign, snapped a power pole, knocked out a street light as well as power to traffic lights in the area, took out a fence, broke some windows, and struck the corner of a house.

The damage to the house prompted additional emergency crews to be dispatched over concerns of a possible structure collapse.

Investigators say the house was not occupied.

The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital. Police at the scene say they suspect alcohol was involved and an arrest is expected.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
