INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two people were injured when the SUV they were riding in crashed early Friday morning near a bar on the city's west side.
Around 3:15 a.m. an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer observed a black Chevrolet SUV leave the parking lot of the 8 Second Saloon and nearby hip hop club.
The officer said the SUV was southbound on Lynhurst Drive, driving recklessly, squealing its tires and running over a median.
The SUV pulled into the parking lot of a Marsh supermarket near Rockville Road.
As the officer pulled around the corner of the building, he said all he could see was dust and the SUV airborne as it slammed into a tree and a nearby parked car.
The driver and passenger, both males, ages 25 and 31, had to be cut out of the wreckage by emergency crews.
One was reported in critical condition, the other serious as they were transported to area hospitals.
Police are continuing to investigate but said they suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
