INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - United Way of Central Indiana is awarding over $2 million in capital projects funding to local agencies.

The organization is issuing a total of $2.8 million in grants to agencies that prioritize education, income, health, and basic needs.

United Way is awarding Fairbanks $1 million to expand their existing treatment facility and outpatient recovery services.

Central Indiana Community Foundation will receive $646,640 that will go towards renovations.

Edna Martin Christian Center will receive $491,621 to assist with building costs that will allow them to relocate in 2013.

Finally, Hancock County Senior Services will receive $735,925 for a new transportation center and administrative building.

"Because of the importance of this project to the neighborhood and to the community, United Way's investment in it is at a higher level than usual," said Ellen K. Annala, president and chief executive officer of United Way of Central Indiana.
