INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Shellie Gaston is living proof that you can turn your life around if you work hard.
Shellie is a recovering drug addict that lived on the streets. Her kids lived with her mother and there were times that she didn’t even want to go on. "Less than 2 years ago, I was hopeless and I was in a place where I wanted to lie down and die and didn’t care... I just want people to have hope that they can change their lives."
To make a change, she sought help from the Julian Center for victims of domestic violence and drug abuse. Since then she has made an amazing turn around.
She is going to school to be an EMT and hopefully a flight nurse on Life Flight. She has her kids now but it has been challenging. She has been going to school, taking kids to the babysitters, all without a car.
That is why she has been chosen by the Julian Center and Pearson Automotives Performance Collision Center for the "Wheels to Recovery" project. Shellie will receive a refurbished car!
If you want to help out the Julian Center, you can give Ginger Lippert a call (317) 940-6517 or their website www.juliancenter.org .
