INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana Power and Light’s Ditch Your Fridge program gives area residents an eco-friendly way to get rid of unwanted, inefficient appliances – and a chance to put money back in their pockets.

If you are an IPL customer and want to schedule an appointment to have your refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner properly disposed of, call 877-395-5535 or log on to iplpower.com.

Such appliances contain hazardous materials, including PCBs and Freon, that shouldn’t be put in landfills. They also contain metal, plastic and glass that can be recycled or reused. For each appliance, IPL issues a $30 check to the customer.

24-Hour News 8 anchor Lauren Lowrey spoke with Brad Riley from IPL. Click play on the video player above to learn more.
