LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - Lawrence police say vandals hit four Lawrence homes late Sunday night into the early hours of Monday morning.
Police say it appears the four incidents are connected. The vandals threw rocks and broke a picture window of a home on Limbach Circle. They also broke the wooden mailbox post. Less than a mile away, they took a heavy metal cap from a water access hole and heaved it into Martha McCardle’s storm door. The glass shattered into a thousand pieces.
“I heard a crash around 3 am yesterday morning. I heard a crash but I have two lively young cats. I thought they knocked something over. My thought was that metal was so heavy that if they had been strong enough, they could have broken the entire door” said McCardle.
Four miles away in the 76 hundred block of East 49th Street, neighbors say vandals threw a couple of rocks at a car parked in a driveway. The rocks broke a car window.
The fourth act of vandalism happened in the 59 hundred block of Draycott Drive. The homeowner says someone drove by and smashed his mailbox early Monday morning.
None of the victims saw anything. Police say they need some tips to help them solve the crimes.
“Somebody knows something. Frequently when something like this occurs more than one person may have been involved with them. So any information we can develop would be very appreciated by the victims” said Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff.
Anyone with information on the vandalism should call Lawrence PD.
