INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An 18-year-old female FFA member suffered scrapes to her face after an encounter with a car in Indianapolis Thursday night.

FFA is hosting a large conference in Indianapolis this week.

FFA officials told 24-Hour News 8 a car was coming out of a garage near the FFA member. The car’s mirror clipped the woman, scraping her face and legs. She was taken to Wishard Hospital where medical personnel were assessing whether she would require stiches.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. at West Maryland and Illinois streets, outside Circle Centre Mall.

A young FFA member suffered serious injuries during last year's convention in Indianapolis. Phillip Caler fell from the third floor at Circle Centre Mall while in town for the convention. Friends who created a Facebook group to show support for the teenager said on the group's Facebook page that he remains in a facility while rehabilitating.
