INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Eighty World War II veterans will be heading to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.

The event is part of Indy Honor Flight, a non-profit organization created to honor Indiana's veterans for their service. The organization takes U.S. heroes to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials and reflect on their missions.

The group is departing Monday from the 38th Division National Guard Armory located at South Holt Road.

The veterans will be taking a plane to D.C. and will be accompanied by a guardian to help with their flight and during the trip.
