INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Dozens of people gathered Saturday night on the city's south side to remember a 14-year-old Franklin High School Freshman who was accidentally shot and killed this week.

Indianapolis police say two teenagers, 18-year-old Kevin Edwards and his 15-year-old stepbrother were trying to scare 14-year-old Nicholas King.

When King knocked on the door of a home on the 5800 block of La Fleur Street, the 15-year-old pulled the trigger, shooting King in the neck.

King died at the scene.

Police arrested the two teens after the shooting.

About 60 people gathered for an anti-crime prayer vigil at Beech Grove Park to remember King.

"He always had a smile on his face, he always we out of his way to make people smile," said Amy Weyand, King's friend.

"Celebrating Nick's life and having so many people here and earlier at the viewing is was just amazing to see how many people Nick had touched. Coming here from Canada, you just see how many people he's affected from different school districts," said King's friend Shawana Harrison.
