Voluntary water use restrictions lifted

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Citizens Energy Group lifted the voluntary water use restrictions Friday morning. However citizens are still encouraged to conserve water whenever possible.

Citizens asked customers to limit watering of lawns and trees on September 5. Citizens also asked customers to refrain from washing cars and using a hose to clean sidewalks. The voluntary restrictions followed mandatory restrictions put in place back in July.

"Thanks to conservation by our customers and recent heavy rains, water levels at area reservoirs have recovered enough to allow the lifting of voluntary water use restrictions," said Carey Lykins, President & CEO of Citizens Energy Group.

Currently Morse Reservoir is about 3 feet from full and Eagle Creek Reservoir is about 2 feet from full, which are not unusual levels for this time of year. Geist Reservoir is now full.

Citizens says they will be carefully monitoring water levels throughout the fall to ensure water supplies are in place for the next year.
