Watering ban remains despite rain

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Despite a decent dose of rain on Monday, Citizens Water said Indianapolis remains under a watering ban.

Area reservoirs have water levels that are still below normal. According to Citizens Water, Geist Reservoir is down 1.8 feet, Eagle Creek Reservoir is down 3.5 feet and Morse Reservoir is down 5.5 feet

With the reservoirs at all time lows, filling them back up will require heavy rain over long periods of time. Hurricane Isaac and its projected path could speed up the process. Citizens said the hurricane could be a “game changer.”

Still, rain alone doesn’t solve the problem. Citizens said water conservation is still necessary.
