INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Rain could make the switch to wet snow Thursday night and early Friday morning as colder temperatures sweep into Central Indiana.
Little to no accumulation is expected.
Parts of Central Indiana have already seen more than an inch of rainfall and could see an additional one to two inches before the end of the day Thursday. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of Central Indiana.
Forecast 8 Chief Meteorologist Steve Bray has been tracking the rain as it moves across Indiana and reports some counties in Southern Indiana are already under River Flood Warnings.
“The rainfall will be wrapping up later today,” Bray says. “But, as colder temperatures move in we will see winds pick up and a few flurries or sleet. Also what water is left on roadways, sidewalks, etc. will freeze as temperatures tonight and early Friday drop to the lower 20s.”
If you will be heading out for Black Friday shopping, you want to be mindful of slick / slippery, some roadways could have a thin layer of ice form on it.
Indy Snow Force is on standby until 7 a.m. Monday. If weather conditions call for it, 38 drivers and support staff will be prepared to respond to help ensure safe travel for holiday drivers.
