INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Light snow began falling in central Indiana Friday morning, but snowfall totals should be less than previously thought due to dry conditions overnight on the ground in much of Central Indiana.
The weather system that moved in Friday morning brought about an inch of snow to much of the Indianapolis and surrounding areas, with some areas farther northeast seeing around 2 inches due to lake effect snow.
The snow stopped around 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The storm will get stronger as it moves into Ohio – eastern and northeastern parts of the area could see up to 3 inches. Because of this, a Winter Weather Advisory is in place for eastern counties.
Snow amounts west and southwest of Indianapolis will reach 1 inch or less.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington Ohio has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for eastern counties of Wayne, Fayette, Union, Franklin, Ripley, and Dearborn counties beginning at 6 a.m. Friday and lasting through 5 p.m.
