INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis church suffered extensive damage after a fire early Sunday morning.
The fire broke out just after 1 a.m. at Westview Christian Church near West 34th Street and North High School Road. Firefighters say the fire caused extensive damage to the inside of the one-story church.
When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke pouring from the sanctuary of the church. Nothing but charred remains are left in the alter area. Firefighters had the fire under control within 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
No one was injured in this incident, but the fire left about $300 thousand worth of damage.
An official with the church says Sunday's service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Speedway Baptist Church located at 30th Street and Moller.
