INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - This year's 500 Festival Mini-Marathon men's winner is George Towett from Hebron, Ky.

Towett told 24-Hour News 8 Sports Director Anthony Calhoun that conditions were tough. Towett said he tried to manage his race based on the weather conditions.

"It feels good to win, but conditions were tough," Towett said.

The women's winner was Lilian Mariita, who is also from Hebron, Ky. The heat and humidity was tough on her and once she crossed the finish she was checked out by medical personnel at the scene.

Laura Farley from Carmel came in second in the women's  division.

Around 10:15 a.m., Mini-Marathon officials put up a yellow flag, which means conditions aren't ideal and heat was becoming a bigger factor in the race.
