INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in the Jeffersonian Apartments off of Shortridge Road.
Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Shortridge Road late Saturday night after receiving a call about a woman screaming for help, according to a report from IMPD. When police arrived, they found a woman who said she was sexually assaulted in the laundry room of the apartment complex.
The woman said her attacker was a white man with short black hair, tattoos on both arms and wearing a black shirt with a marijuana leaf on it.
Witnessed told police they found the woman crying on the floor of the laundry room. She told police she had been raped and gave the witnessed the description of her attacker.
One witness said he knew a man by the name that matched the description who lived in a nearby trailer park by the name of Shawn Corbally, 33.
Police were told he would be at a residence on the 7500 block of East Washington Street. Police arrested Corbally on site and found he was a registered sex offender. He faces preliminary charges of sexual battery, criminal confinement, and felony strangulation.
