INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis woman credits her neighbor for saving her family from a fire.
Diane Miller told investigators that neighbor, Dustin Butterfield noticed a fire on her front porch and ran to alert her family.
Miller's two sons were asleep in their bedroom and Diane was in the shower.
Dustin made two or three trips into the home, bringing out Diane, her sons, three dogs, one bird and one turtle.
Two chickens did not survive.
The family has no idea how the fire started, but it appears the fire may have started on the porch.
The 15-hundred square foot home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
The heat from the fire, melted one of the fire trucks mirrors.
Investigators say the house is a total loss.
