INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A woman is hospitalized tonight after her car hit an apartment building.

It happened just after 7 p.m. Friday on the 7000 block of Portland Square. Investigators say a woman in her late 50s or early 60s lost control of her car. They say she went off the road and slammed into the building.

The collision caused some structural damage and caused a small gas leak inside an apartment, according to a report. Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to secure the building, shut off the gas, and remove the car, which took 45 minutes, IFD said.

The woman was taken to St. Vincent Hospital. Rescuers say she should recover from her injuries.

The two people that live in the affected apartments have been moved to a different unit.
