INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Fire investigators have determined the cause of a fire at the Woods of Oak Crossing apartments to be electrical.
Firefighters arrived at 3650 Nobscot Court Way to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of the apartments.
IFD crews attempted an offensive attack, but quickly switched to a defensive attack to bring this two alarm fire under control.
Firefighters battled not only the fire and smoke, but also humidity and 80 plus degree heat.
The blaze was brought under control within 90 minutes.
One firefighter was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for complications from overheating.
18 apartment units were involved in the fire and 30 to 40 residents were displaced because of the fire damage.
Damage is estimated at $2.5 million.
