INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Rocker John Mellencamp, soprano Sylvia McNair and CBS
sportscaster Jim Nantz will headline a tribute to former NCAA
president Myles Brand.
The NCAA says the Oct. 28 tribute at Conseco Fieldhouse in
Indianapolis will chronicle Brand's career and achievements. It
will come six weeks after his Sept. 16 death at age 67 from
pancreatic cancer.
Attendance is by invitation, but limited seats are available
to the public. Those interested in attending should apply at
ncaa.org by Monday.
Indiana U.S. Sens. Richard Lugar and Evan Bayh, ex-Sen. Birch
Bayh, Duke University basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski and NBA
commissioner David Stern are expected to deliver video tributes.
A health care battle is heating up in Washington and here in Indianapolis.
