MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - The Muncie police chief says two officers have served brief suspensions he imposed over gunshots they fired during a Fraternal Order of Police lodge Christmas party.

Police Chief Steve Stewart says Sgt. Brad Wiemer and patrolman Tyler Swain each admitted firing gunshots into a pond outside the FOP lodge on the night of the Dec. 8 party.

Stewart tells The Star Press he suspended Wiemer for two days without pay and Swain for one day. He says both approached him after a newspaper article was published about complaints over fights at a downtown bar involving patrons, a different officer and a former police chief following the FOP party.

Stewart says he's waiting for a special prosecutor's review of those fights before deciding whether to discipline that officer.
