MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 77 citations while patrolling around Ball State University on Friday and Saturday nights.
This total is up from last weekend when BSU students moved on campus. Officers issued 57 tickets then.
Officers cited 30 people on Friday on a total of 33 charges, most for illegal consumption of alcohol, according to a release.
Other tickets were issued for minor transporting alcohol, possession of false ID, public intoxication and various traffic offenses.
Two adults were cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor, police say.
A juvenile was detained for illegal possession of alcohol and resisting law enforcement by fleeing.
Be Here Now, located at 505 N. Dill Street, was cited for purchasing alcohol from another retail permit holder. Indiana law requires beer, wine and liquor be purchased from a licensed wholesaler.
Officers cited 26 minors on 30 charges on Saturday. Charges included illegal possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of false ID, public intoxication, minor in tavern or liquor store and various traffic violations.
A 19-year-old Ball State student was arrested for public intoxication and illegal possession of alcohol after he tested .22 percent Blood Alcohol Content.
Those cited this weekend will appear in court on later dates.
Indiana State Excise Police officers were working in Muncie this weekend as part of the Intensified College Enforcement program that launched last semester.
The program aims to reduce underage access to and use of alcohol at six college campuses.
Those campuses are Ball State, Butler, Indiana, Indiana State, Notre Dame and Purdue.
